Biblical Business Principle
Do your plans and the execution of them dovetail, or do your plans sit on the shelf and business goes on?
Proverbs 16 is focusing on Leadership.
The king speaks with divine wisdom; he must never judge unfairly. Proverbs 16:10 NLT
Substitute leader or boss for king; as you lead, do you lead with divine wisdom? As you make judgements, how do you assure they are fair?
The LORD demands accurate scales and balances; he sets the standards for fairness. Proverbs 16:11 NLT
Note: This is the LORD, not the king. How do you determine your scales are accurate? (If you actually use scales, the government might demand they be calibrated.) Do you provide a full measure of what you advertised or said you would provide? When it comes to pricing a product or service, how do you determine fairness?
A king detests wrongdoing, for his rule is built on justice. Proverbs 16:12 NLT
Do you detest wrongdoings? Can you detest and still maintain Christlikeness? Is your rule built on justice? Do people know you operate with correctness, and trust your company to do the right thing and correct wrongs?
The king is pleased with words from righteous lips; he loves those who speak honestly. Proverbs 16:13 NLT
Many in business today think you have to be deceptive to get ahead. Do you set a tone of honestly? Even when it isn’t what you want to hear and will cost the company money? (Why is the secretary who won’t say the boss is not in when he is, the one he picks to handle the petty cash?)
The anger of the king is a deadly threat; the wise will try to appease it. Proverbs 16:14 NLT
Is this keep the boss happy, or is it as Jesus taught, “Blessed are the peacemakers…?”
When the king smiles, there is life; his favor refreshes like a spring rain. Proverbs 16:15 NLT
Which do you do the most, smile or frown?
Bit of Wisdom
How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver! Proverbs 16:16 NLT
